Global Health Fellowships open to nurses, midwives and allied health professionals

We’re delighted to announce that applications for Global Health Fellowships (GHFs) are now open to nurses, midwives and allied health professionals (AHPs). The fellowships are a fantastic opportunity to develop greater understanding and participate in global health activities. Global Health Fellowships are offered to Band 6+ nurses, midwives and AHPS employed at Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) with a minimum of two years’ continuous service at CUH. 

We’re delighted to announce that applications for Global Health Fellowships (GHFs) are now open to nurses, midwives and allied health professionals (AHPs). The fellowships are a fantastic opportunity to develop greater understanding and participate in global health activities.  

GHFs are offered to Band 6+ nurses, midwives and AHPS employed at Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) with a minimum of two years’ continuous service at CUH. 

As a Global Health Fellow you can expect to:  

  • Have funded time (up to one session per week) equivalent to half a day per week to dedicate to global health activities. 
  • Gain understanding of global health and skills in team working, leadership and management and governance, alongside your speciality knowledge and skills.  
  • Experience partnership working with healthcare professionals in low- and middle- income countries either within an existing health partnership supported by Cambridge Global Health Partnerships, or as part of another defined health partnership. The specific work you do will depend on your interests and the agreement of a CUH supervisor, but could include teaching, audit, guideline development and research.   
  • Undertake a visit to international partners. 
  • Have the opportunity to study for a Global Health qualification (partial funding available). 
  • Become a champion for global health within your profession and the region. 
  • Join a support network for international staff working in the region with involvement in induction and mentorship.  

Eligibility 

The Global Health Fellowship is open to Band 6+ nurses, midwives and AHPs with a minimum of two years’ continuous service at CUH. GHF posts are offered for one year subject to satisfactory progression and agreed educational objectives.

  • Please submit your CV and personal statement to info@cghp.org.uk  explaining your interest in a Global Health Fellowship and your relevant background, knowledge, skills, and experience.  
  • You will also need to include written confirmation of support from your manager. 
  • In the email subject line please state – Application for Global Health Fellowship Nursing, Midwife & Allied Health Professional 2025.  

Please note

  • Deadline for submitting application – 5pm, August 7 2024. 
  • Interviews will take place on MS Teams on morning of 13 or 15 August 2024.  
  • Fellowship will start between September 1 and November 1, 2024. 
  • Compulsory attendance at half day GHF Annual Meeting on 12 September 2024 from 13:30
