We stand in absolute solidarity with our partners, colleagues and friends in Myanmar, and acknowledge the very difficult professional and ethical decisions that they are making at this time.
We advocate strongly for a functional system where healthcare professionals feel safe and empowered to work in the public healthcare and education system and can provide services to people in need.
A health partnership between institutions in Cambridge and Yangon, established in 2013, has contributed to improved services for trauma patients in Yangon and to the development of intensive care and pathology services nationally.
We remain committed to supporting the continued development of these essential healthcare services when conditions allow, and we will continue to monitor this deeply concerning political situation very closely.
