Orthopaedics

Orthopaedics is a branch of medicine focused on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions of the musculoskeletal system, including bones and joints and structures that enable movement such as ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves. Treatment of broken bones and related injuries, management of arthritis and other joint conditions, treatment of bone and soft tissues tumours, and sports rehabilitation are just some of the areas of focus. Orthopaedic specialists often work in multidisciplinary teams, including physiotherapists and occupational therapists, to provide comprehensive care and rehabilitation for patients. Orthopaedic specialists are currently involved in the CGHP-supported Malawi Orthopaedics project.
